What is your all time fave "end of the world" movie?

What is the worst "end of the world" movie of all time?

OKAY, OKAY, the truth comes out. The reason I started this blog was due to a project that has been assigned to me by my Media & Culture instructor Rob Priewe. He has his own blog make sure and check it out This all started out as just an assignment and turned out to be so much more than that. I always knew that blogs existed but really never consider the power they really held. The power of the people that is. We are more prone to listen & absorb the words of our equals vs. some highty tighty journalist or editor that will just make our heads spin. We just want a strait shot of info full of gritty debates, and opinionated subjects to back those debates. We want it easy and quick and more importantly we want to feel as if we have a voice too. I say let the masses gather to share their wisdom. A two way highway of interactive stories instead of a one way street censored by the Monopoly we call the "old" media. I just saw

">"The Book of Eli" on Friday it's opening night. The theater was packed with a variety of ages and cultures. I assured myself this must just be due to opening night, Friday night(being the infamous "date night") or just Denzel's sex appeal alone. I settled into my seat preparing myself for another cliched "end of the world movie" full of seasure starting action sequences, and absolutely no realistic gore to set the end of the world feel. I didn't care, nor did the many others in the audience who had spent there hard earned money to be where they were at that moment. We all were there (I believe)for the realm of self chosen fear that would soon engulf us(if we let it). I thought the movie was great it blew my opinion of "end of the world movies" out of the water. I soon realized I could no longer put all of the "end of the world movies" in one shitty category. The Book Of Eli was both touching and as realistic and gritty as a rated "R", Hollywood, mainstream flick can be. It dealt with power, greed, self sacrifice, heroism, and purpose. Powerful emotions that can ruin a movie if not applied correctly. Mad props to dynamic director duo (brothers)Allen & Albert Hughes for changing my mind, and hopefully many others about "end of the world movies". Now I don't necessarily look down upon "end of the world movies". NOT AT ALL. I actually love the way they pull at my heartstrings and challenge my real life fears. This is something vampires and ware wolves can not! Because we apply the, " oh my god this could really happen" element to our thinking. as awful and as unrealistic as they may be I completley feed off that drop off heavy hoplessness that stews in my stomach when I apply the "what if that really happened" factor to my thought process through out watching the movie. "End of the world flicks" are the appifany of a true horror film. We love to scare ourselves(or try anyways) through watching movies and then complain about how it didn't after. Still going back for more again, and again. We eat these types of movies up. We keep cozying up with a coke and wasting our lives for two hours for a one star flick that we will just complain about all next week at the office, classroom, or job site. Why do we support this vicious cycle. FOR SURE check "The Book of Eli" out, and you may be surprised. You may hate it, want your money back, or agree with me completely. Either way PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let me know. Let us know....were listening. In the meantime check out what movieblog.com had to say about Denzel's latest.. ******************************************************** LUV NIZZY*******************
